ATLAS: A NEW AI TALE
Atlas is a new AI tale released on May 24th, 2024. The movie is directed by Brad Peyton. Lead casts include Jennifer Lopez as Atlas Shepherd, and Simu Liu as Harlan Shepherd. It is a new Netflix movie current showcased on Netflix. Atlas is about a counter-terrorism analyst (Atlas) who distrusts artificial intelligence and is eager to destroy a rogue AI robot –Harlan all set in a futuristic era.
At first instance, in the beginning of the film, I was a bit disappointed because I thought it will be the cliché story line of robots turning rogues and killing humans.
Well, it was indeed the cliché story-line, however, with a difference. I could attribute this to the futuristic setting of the movie, or the emotional progression and change that was captured in the film.
Although the movie has received a wide range of critics with low ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, and IMDb, I am of the opinion that it was a good movie and impressively acted.
However, my bone of contention in Atlas was the fact that the colonel and his crew felt very confident in entering an unmapped planet with plans to overtake and capture a rogue AI by using another kind of AI. It was their confidence for me.
Overall, this AI fiction- Atlas is packed with thrillers, action, spiced with futuristic setting, trust and friendship.
