Extraction II is a sequel to Extraction I, and it is about Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) after his near-death experience, with his team embark on another rescue mission of his ex-sister-in-law and her children. The mission gets bloody because of a snitch from the oldest child, which unfortunately resulted in Yaz’s (Adam Bessa) death, Nik’s (Golshifteh Farahani) brother.
It is an interesting American action thriller with a great storyline. The stunts and actions were greatly executed by the actors such that the two hour-movie felt like minutes.
However, as a fiction, Extraction II has some degree of exaggeration and predictability. The progression from Tyler’s nine months coma where pulling the plug was contemplated, to his 6weeks of getting back in shape which evolved from limping to being physically fit for an intense combat, seemed quite exaggerated. Yaz’s death was quite obvious from the start, given that Nik’s death would mean a permanent retirement for the team as she was the boss.
Certainly, the film is very catchy with good angle shots, with an ending where the viewers are left to wonder who the other boss is, leaving us with hopes for a second sequel.
