A discovery of Witches: A Powerful Paranormal
A discovery of witches is a great mystical British series released on September 2018 till 7th January 2022.
The movie series has three seasons with a total of 25 episodes. The first two seasons were aired on Sky One while the third season was aired on Sky Max.
PLOT: The film is a story of a historian-Diana Bishop (Theresa Palmer) who fell in love with a vampire-Matthew Claimont (Matthew Goode) and later became a powerful witch. While unions between different creatures are forbidden, these two are determined to fight for their love. Meanwhile, they also try to find answers to why their bloodlines are deteriorating, failing to sire, and becoming less powerful.
REVIEW: This interesting paranormal includes more than one type of mythical creatures unlike other series that focuses on one kind. This makes it very entertaining and captivating. Each episode is engaging keeping you glued to the screens. Transcending from a normal world to the world of power struggles among the creatures gave the movie an interesting touch. With details and great progression from one season to the next made it more interesting.
Meanwhile, watching this film made me remember a book- the immortal instrument. The book also this featured all kinds of mystical creatures in the story.
However, I had some reservations in the third season. In this last season, I felt the depiction of the acceptance by the lab scientists regarding the existence of other creatures was rushed and a bit downplayed. I expected a certain level of commotion with human emotions of fear and flight displayed by these scientists as they got to know that vampires and witches were present right in front of them. Or at least, some scientists would have opted for a rethink about their assistance with some withdrawals as regards their safety. I was expecting them to display a bit of that selfish human desires and emotions in that scene with a couple more scenes trying to gain their trust.
But, this was never the case, just with a few words from Matthew Clairmont, they all agreed to work with them.
Overall, “A discovery of witches- to me remains a powerful fantasy movie I have watched so far. It is thrilling, spiced with romance, drama, friendship, love, loss, and action!
In this view, we give it a 9/10!
