The Winter King- A Remake of Merlin?
The Winter King is an ongoing British TV series with a medieval setting.
The Plot: The Winter King is about a bastard son of a king, Arthur who became a great warlord. Also, He undergoes a series of fights and schemes to protect the child-king and half-brother, Mordred while hoping to protect the kingdom.
A remake of Merlin? The series has similar character names as in “Merlin” such as Lancelot, Guinevere, Uther Pendragon, Mordred, and Arthur.
Nevertheless, these characters have varying roles; a character of merlin who is more of a druid than a magician, Arthur a bastard son rather than the next King in line, and Mordred- the legitimate heir to the throne rather than a druid boy in ‘Merlin’.
More so, as a Nigerian, I am happy to spot two Nigerian actors –Olumide Olorunfemi and Ken Nwosu. Kudos to them for making it this far.
Overall, the series so far, has a different story from Merlin. Coupled with interesting characters that I hope will be fully developed. As a lover of medieval movies along with British history, this movie encompasses all, and I hope I get satisfied at the end.
So, if you are looking for a series packed with action, religion, magic, history, romance, and drama, then you are welcome to engage yourself with this ongoing series.
